Ringo Starr Gets a Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Former Beatle Ringo Starr will be one of 28 entertainers who’ll be getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2010, according to Contact Music. Other celebrities who’ll be receiving the honor are: Roy Orbison, Alan Jackson, Bryan Adams, Motown’s Funk Brothers, Chaka Khan, Van Morrison and ZZ Top.

Next year, the Hollywood Walk of Fame is celebrating its 50th anniversary too.

Ringo will be the third Beatle to get a star of his own, as former bandmates John Lennon and George Harrison already have one. Surprisingly enough, Sir Paul McCartney doesn’t have one yet, even though he has been approved for one, according to BBC News. Congrats to Ringo!

Gabber Quote of the Day

“I thought I’d died and gone to Oz… I’m looking up and there’s Liza Minnelli handing me a towel… I see Shrek… I thought how ironic that all the money I spent on substances in the 80s and 90s and all I had to do was hit my head on something - it was that simple and I could have this trip.”

“Anyone from Smashing Pumpkins to - what’s the one with Fred Durst?.. There are a million billion of them. And people think they’re gods, man.”

“I took great pains not to think first because the thing I can’t stand is a rock star who thinks he’s got brains. They’re always so damned dull!”

Gotta love Iggy Pop. He’s a little out there, but he’s actually right this time.

The Babyshambles singer was on his way from London to Geneva, Switzerland on Friday to do a gig, however, the British Airways flight crew became concerned when they found the musician slumped in the airplane’s bathroom.

Doherty is said to have been intoxicated and brought to his seat, but staff reported to police when they found a hypodermic needle on the plane.

The troubled rocker has been known for his addiction to heroine and crack cocaine, but he was arrested and questioned by police when the plane landed at the airport.

A rep for the Geneva police said:

“We were contacted by the captain of a BA flight and a passenger was controlled by the police. He was charged but I cannot say what with. He paid a fine and was allowed to go.”

Wow, how sad. The guy is just going to kill himself off with the drugs. Someone needs to intervene as soon as possible! I feel bad for him.

Bob Geldof Reveals Past Homeless Experience

Bob Geldof was once homeless when he was unemployed and couldn’t find a job after leaving school, according to Contact Music. Sir Bob revealed that he was so desperate to find somewhere safe to sleep, he often turned to the floor at London’s Gatwick Airport. He said:

“At one point, I was living on the streets of London. It didn’t bother me because I was young and I could get a sleeping bag and a sponge mattress in the crypt at High Holborn, or I slept at Gatwick Airport for a while. But all the time, I was alert and watching people.”

It’s amazing how people can rise from those types of experiences. Maybe his past brought him to wanting to help the unfortunate.
