Oprah Wants to Interview Sarah Palin After Election

Oprah Winfrey has been receiving some criticism for not wanting to have Senator John McCain’s running mate Sarah Palin on her show as the Drudge Report claimed, but apparently, she is interested in interviewing her after the elections are over. Oprah issued a statement to TMZ saying:

“At the beginning of this presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates.

I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over. There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show.”

I hope Oprah does interview her after McCain and Palin lose the election and asks the Governor of Alaska about the lies she told on Wednesday night during her speech. I also hope she asks her why she pointed out in her statement that it was her 17-year-old daughter Bristol Palin’s choice to keep the baby she’s knocked up with, but holds the position of taking the choice away from other women, even in case of rape or incest. I’m also curious to know what’s so demeaning about community organizing when regular people find themselves empowered by gathering together for a common cause.

It’s actually a good call for Oprah not to have Palin and McCain on her show until after the elections are over anyway because she would be heavily criticized if she asked tough questions of Palin, given her position of supporting Senator Barack Obama.

Oprah Winfrey’s Mom Owes $150,000

Oprah Winfrey’s mom, Vernita Lee is in a bit of financial trouble because she has an unpaid bill of $150,000 from a Valentina Inc. in Wisconsin, according to Female First. The store says Oprah’s mom has been getting perks and special deliveries since 2004, but stopped paying for it.

Now Oprah’s mom is required to pay at least $2,000 a month to the fashion store, but she has hired lawyers to help fight the bill. Yikes.

I wonder if Oprah will just pay off the bill to make the news of the lawsuit go away. I also wonder how much money she gives her mom for support too because it sounds like her mom has some expensive taste!

George Clooney Hopes to Raise Nearly $1 Million for Obama

George Clooney is reportedly hoping to help raise nearly $1 million at a Barack Obama fundraiser in Geneva, according to reports via People magazine. The Hollywood hottie was making his rounds recently at the Venice Film Festival and has now moved onto planning his appearance on Tuesday at the fundraiser which is being held for U.S. citizens living overseas.

Clooney is set to speak and answer questions to about 170 people who are paying $1,000 each and then later sit down with 75 people for dinner who are paying $10,000. Just in case you were hoping to attend, both events are already sold out. Darn!

The event is being held at the private home of U.S. attorney Charles Adams who told Le Temps newspaper:

“I personally assured George Clooney that Geneva is a city where restraint is the norm and that he wouldn’t be assaulted by fans trying to tear the shirt off him.”

It seems like a bargain to get into this fundraiser compared with Oprah Winfrey’s event in July 2007 where people paid $2,300 to get into the door and $25,000 to attend a VIP party.

Tom Cruise On Oprah

Yesterday was part one of the interview that Oprah did with Tom Cruise. This is his first interview with her since the sofa incident few years ago.

Click on the video above to watch what Tom Cruise is saying about the sofa incident and also about the interview he had with Matt Lauer on the Today’s show. It seems like Cruise is trying very hard not to move much on the sofa, after all, sofas are for jumping on.

Also, it is interesting to see how he changes the reason why he argued with Matt Lauer and says that for him it was not about Brooke Shields but about the children. Nice attempt to look normal, isn’t it?

Valerie Bertinelli Admits to Cheating on Eddie Van Halen in New Book

Valerie Bertinelli reportedly taped a segment for Oprah and dished the dirt about her marriage and divorce with Eddie Van Halen, dating Steven Spielberg, and doing drugs in her new book Losing It: And Gaining My Life Back One Pound at a Time. She said:

“He’s a handsome young man, isn’t he? I went up to read for Raiders of the Lost Ark, which I was so wrong for, way too young for… And the next day I got a call and some flowers … [Spielberg] asked me out. We went out a few times, um, and did more.”

In her book she revealed how she and Spielberg didn’t stand a chance because he doesn’t like garlic:

“Even though the tabloids reported that Steven and I had a ’special love,’ and ‘we were talking about marriage,’ we knew it was a fling. We had too many differences, including age, career status and religion. I met his mother, and I knew he wasn’t going to marry someone who wasn’t Jewish. And there was the stuff that really matters to me - food. One night, as we made pasta for dinner, I started to chop up garlic and Steven said, ‘No. Stop. No garlic.’ I stopped all right, but it wasn’t because I took direction from him. I thought, ‘Are you kidding me? I can’t date a guy who won’t eat garlic.’”

Valerie also admitted to cheating:

“I cheated. [Ex-husband Eddie Van Halen] claims to this day that I cheated first, but I don’t know. I don’t know about the timing.”

She even opened up about drug use:

“Got to do another bump.”

Oprah asked:

“Another bump?”

Valerie explained:

“Of cocaine.”

Valerie replaced Kirstie Alley last year as the spokesperson for Jenny Craig.

I’ve always liked Valerie Bertinelli a lot, but she seems to reveal too much about herself as well as those who are or were in her life. I guess dishing the dirt is the thing to do to make a quick buck these days. Valerie seems to be really “losing it” eh?
