A Christmas Carol Tops Weekend Box Office
Jim Carrey’s A Christmas Carol was number one at the box office this weekend earning $31 million. I’m not surprised that of all the movies to debut this weekend this one topped them all. The Men Who Star at Goats took the number 3 spot, while The Fourth Kind landed in number 4, and The Box had some what of a disapointing opening weekend taking the number 6 spot.
One moving still holding on is Paranormal Activity, which made another $8.6 million, bringing it’s total earnings to $97.4 million. Another low budget movie called Precious, which has been promoted by Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry, earned $1.8 million on it’s opening weekend and was released in only 18 locations. Not too shabby.
Here’s a look at estimated ticket sales over the weekend according to Box Office Mojo:
1. A Christmas Carol: $31.0 million
2. Michael Jackson’s This Is It: $14.0 million
3. The Men Who Stare at Goats: $13.3 million
