Paul Newman Named Most Generous Celebrity
Paul Newman has topped a list of celebrity philanthropists, according to Contact Music. The legendary Hollywood actor who sadly passed away last year in September 2008 after losing his battle with lung cancer was listed at the top of The Giving Back Fund poll which will be published in Parade magazine on November 1, 2009.
Newman gave out approximately $21 million for health, education, and environmental initiatives. He continues to give to charities through his foundation Newman’s Own. Other celebrities listed were: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Mel Gibson, Oprah Winfrey, actor Sam Waterson, author Patricia Cornwell and Barbra Streisand.
I think it’s very appropriate he topped the list because he was a great humanitarian who is truly missed.
