Simon Cowell Slams Beatles Drummer Ringo Starr
Simon Cowell has said if the Beatles had been on his UK show The X Factor he would have kicked them off because their drummer Ringo Starr.
“If The Beatles came on the show we would have said, ‘We’ll take those three Paul McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison but probably lose the drummer’,” said Cowell.
“With Ringo, I’m afraid, we would have said ‘bad news’.”
That’s why it’s just his opinion and nothing more, you can’t have the Beatles without Ringo Starr or any other member for that matter.

He obviously hasn’t hear the Decca audition tape, where Pete Best proved totally unauthoratative and rhythmically inert.
Ringo could swing a beat like few other drummers and the fact that non-musicians don’t realize what he contributed proves how subtle his touch was. But play the Decca tapes for an idea of how lame the Beatles sounded without him. They didn’t pass the audition.
Shouldn’t Cowell thank the Beatles for coming up with the boy-band formula that made him a millionaire in the first place?
Simon, listen to Ringo’s amazing work on “Rain” and then go sit a hot, steaming cup of STFU.

Ringo is a narcissistic egomaniac, so Simon probably had some run in with him. I guess if douchebaggery was a factor, Ringo would have been out.
Holy wow. I’ve don’t normally comment, but how does that guy get away with saying these things? Is he purposefully being controversial for free press? If so, do the means really justify the ends? The Beatles are certainly a sacred cow, but at least they have talent. I’ve certainly never seen Simon display any of that.
This man should be forbidden from ever saying the words “The Beatles.” He has created nothing of value. To the contrary, he has created mountains of crap. And made mountains of money from that crap. And he dares to judge The Beatles? Delusional ponce.

Just listen to The Ballad of John and Yoko and other tracks which featured Paul on drums and then play A Day in the Life when Ringo played and you’ll hear the difference; when they got rid of Pete Best they looked for the best rock drummer and Ringo played for Rory Storm and the Hurricanes. The Beatles were a very popular band before the Decca audition and they had their pick of drummers - but we are giving Simon Cowall what he wants - publicity. By the way charisma and talent is easy to spot and I don’t see any in the direction of Simon Cowall.
i think this proves… simon cowell knows nothing about music… he says he wished he had signed the beatles… but the thing is, would the beatles have taken him… i dont think so! and you cant be a beatles fan unless you love them all! equally! so tut tut mr music… and the beatles would never have gone on a show as shallow as britans got talent… because they had talent… rant over!
Simon Cowell represents everything that is wrong with British culture. He is a continuation of Stock, Aitken and Waterman’s watered down version of factory made music.
What this man cant get his head around is the fact that real bands did exist that were better and larger than ANYTHING all of the TV series’, crappy radio shows, gutter press, ignorance, arrogance, life’s work and money of his can buy/create. And you can quote me.
