Dr Drew Pinsky Was Told About Mackenzie Phillips Incest on Reality Show
Dr. Drew Pinsky first learned about the incestuous relationship between Mackenzie Phillips and her father John Phillips of the Mamas and the Papas during a session of the Vh1’s reality TV show Celebrity Rehab, according to FemaleFirst. However, Dr. Drew was asked, out of respect for her family, not to make those discussions public. Dr. Drew told Extra:
“(John Phillips was) almost a cult leader, where he was sort of using mind control over people and telling them that his way of seeing things was the right way. When you’re a kid, you have no other way of seeing things and if you’re then given drugs and addicted at the same time, it’s hopeless for the young person.
This was despicable situation.”
Dr. Drew should be commended for not trying to convince Mackenzie Phillips to open up on his show exclusively for a boost in ratings, since he knew about this bombshell story months ago before she revealed her story on Oprah Winfrey’s show. Dr. Drew has earned some brownie points in my book.
