Aretha Franklin Set To Receive Special Recognition From The NAACP.

The Detroit Branch NAACP will honor the queen of soul Aretha Franklin with a lifetime achievement award at its annual Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner on May 3.
“(Aretha Franklin) has been honored by many all over the world,” said the Rev. Wendell Anthony, president of the branch. ”Yet there is no award like getting the award and total recognition from those in your own hometown.”
Aretha is set to receive the James Weldon Johnson Lifetime Achievement award, and Anthony is right this must be an honor for her to receive recognition from her hometown. Congrats Aretha!
