50th Anniversary To The Day The Music Died

The catchphrase “The Day The Music Died” comes from Don McLean’s classic 1971 recording “American Pie”, but it refers to an event a decade earlier when an airplane crashed in Iowa.

It was 50 Years ago today that an airplane carrying Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper (J.P. Richardson) crashed into a cornfield eight miles north of Clear Lake, Iowa.
