Ron Asheton from The Stooges Found Dead
Ron Asheton, guitarist from Iggy Pop and The Stooges was found dead at his Michigan home. He was 60 years old.
Detective Bill Stanford reported that his personal assistant contacted police on Monday night after being unable to reach Asheton for days.
After police officers were sent to Asheton’s house to investigate, they found his body on a couch in the living room. They believe he may have suffered a heart attack a few days ago, but the cause of death hasn’t been determined yet.
Asheton was a co-songwriter and founding member of The Stooges, along with his brother, drummer Scott, bassist Dave Alexander, and frontman Iggy Pop in 1967.
How sad that he was found alone. RIP Ron!
