Marc Jacobs Fined $1 Million For Bribing an Official

After Marc Jacobs was busted for bribing an official to score his dream location for his New York fashion shows, he has agreed to pay a $1 million fine. Ouch!
Apparently, Jacobs was busted because there were records of payments from 2000 to 2007 through an agent, to James Jackson, the former superintendent of the 69th Regiment Armory, in exchange for the use of the armory’s drill hall.
Jackson admitted receiving $35,000 in cash and goods from the famous fashion designer and pleaded to grand larceny. He can get up to 15 years in the slammer for this.
However, Jacobs will only have to have a private monitorying agency review his business operations for the next two years and pay the fine. His rep said:
“We are pleased that this matter has been resolved We have already taken and will continue to take steps to avoid incidents of this nature in the future.”
It seems unfair that he only has to pay a fine and have his business watched over for a little while.
