Carrie Ann Inaba Stuck Her Foot In Her Mouth on DWTS

Usually Carrie Ann Inaba is the “nicer” judge to contestants when she’s not picking on them for illegal lifts during the competition on Dancing with the Stars, but last night, she was downright rude to 82-year-old Cloris Leachman. After Cloris performed the Cha Cha with her partner Corky Ballas, she said something to the effect of how she has learned that when people get older, they can get away with more. Then she made the most disrespectful comment which went something like this:

“Last week, we lost Toni Braxton who’s such a great dancer…for this. And that just makes me sad.”

I’m shocked she would diss her like that. It’s one thing to give her comments about her dance performance, but to be so rude to imply that Cloris should’ve been given the boot instead is just mean. She realized her comments wouldn’t be too popular and said:

“I know I’m going to be hanged for saying this.”

Carrie Ann should be taught some manners because she’s in the position of judging! First of all, Toni Braxton didn’t dance all that well - she was kind of awkward when she danced and secondly, Toni is not 82 trying to learn these new steps. Maybe DWTS shouldn’t have asked an 82-year-old funny actress to be on their show, but she is trying and she moves a lot better than any 80 year old I can remember watching. I hope fans write in and tell Carrie Ann she should’ve known better than to say what she did.

I think it is about time someone said just what she said. The system they use is not fair and every season it seems like many people think it is a big joke to vote for the worse dancer, Jerry Springer, etc. It isn’t fair for several better contestants to go just “for a laugh”.

While I agree with not voting for the worst dancer just for the sake of it, one has to admit that this is not ENTIRELY a “dance competition.” It is first & foremost, TELEVISION FOR RATINGS, and the reason they call it DWT STARS is because these people ARE celebrities. People want to see them.
Cloris is not going to win…dunno why people are in such an uproar about her staying power. It is because she is ENTERTAINING, which is what this show is ALSO about. The “dancing” will eventually filter out…but it’s also fun to watch people like George Hamilton, Jerry and Cloris…because they are ENTERTAINERS.

The “good” dancers are going to be in the top, but for Pete’s sake, I’d rather watch Cloris in all her antics in the meantime than sappy, whiney “OMG I’ve got a heart problem” Toni Braxton any day. Think about casting: They want young, old, sports, has-beens, comedians, and they ALWAYS throw in a sympathy casting- the deaf person, the unhealthy person, the person with no leg…
Aside from needing ‘competent’ dancers who can pull it off for real, they want people who appeal to all demographics for the RATINGS.
Ok, that’s all I have…go Cloris!

Oh, and I thought Carrie Ann was totally out of line, taking my previous comments into consideration, because she’s taking this a little too seriously.
Gimme a break, C.A., Cloris is an entertainer, and she will stay as long as the voters want her to, but you’ll get your “good” dancers. Stop being a b… and accept it for a while because it gives you a JOB.
