Jenny McCarthy Slams Amanda Peet for Her Position on Child Vaccinations

Jenny McCarthy fired back at actress Amanda Peet after comments in a recent magazine interview where she called parents who choose not to vaccinate their children, parasites. Although Peet has already apologized for her insensitive comments, Jenny chose to swing back at the actress in the new issue of Spectrum magazine:
“she has a lot of balls to come forward and be on that side, because there is an angry mob on my side, I like the fact that I can say she’s completely wrong.”
While Jenny is a Hollywood actress, she has also been busy advocating for the rights of children with autism after her child was diagnosed with autism. She and boyfriend Jim Carrey rallied with thousands
in Washington D.C. to ask
for the Federal Government to clean vaccines of all toxins and to change a loaded schedule that leads to the cause of autism.
Apparently, there are over 5000 cases of improper immunization of children to which parents are suing the government for.
National Autism Advocacy Group, Autism United, is calling for a boycott of all of Amanda Peet’s movies. Executive Director John Gilmore said in a statement:
“We want to send a clear message to her. Our community will not support the continued misinformation that is funneled into the media by organizations like ECBT and the AAP. We are not against vaccines, rather we are for safe vaccines. Until they understand that, we won’t back down. Ms. Peet’s comments are deplorable and an apology will not suffice. We applaud Jenny McCarthy’s continued efforts and for speaking up for our community.”
Yikes, that’s a little extreme to me, especially given the fact that Peet apologized. I empathize with parents who try to best protect their children. No one can fault parents for doing what they think is in their child’s best interests, but both sides have their points so no one is completely right or wrong on this issue in my book, other than the statement for which Peet has apologized for already.

3 babblicious comments:
The link between autism and immunizations has not been proven in actual scientific studies. I understand a parents need to find a cause, but just by shouting louder than others does not make Jenny McCarthy an expert.
If you do not have a child with autism as Amanda Peete does not..Then you should keep your opinions to yourself. Until you’ve walked a mile in these people’s shoe’s, who in the world are you people to judge them?
And they are NOT saying that immunizations are wrong to give..just the schedual of them!
Amanda Peete had no reason to even get involved in the first place!
missy,
Amanda Peet’s point was that children need to be vaccinated. Peet didn’t point her finger at Jenny McCarthy or make a personal attack. Peet didn’t resort to trash talk or a smear campaign. Peet did not try to squash anyone’s right to debate the matter. These underhanded tactics were all employed by Jenny McCarthy and Autism Now.
I — and Amanada Peet — have EVERY right to voice an opinion about this issue. I’m tired of people acting as if this is a trivial issue and that only the parents of autistic children are entitled to enter the debate. Vaccinations help protect everyone in our society. Un-vaccinated children represent a segment of society who are at risk of dying from preventable ailments AND also spreading diseases to the majority of the population.
