Brad Pitt Pledges $100,000 to Fight Ban on Gay Marriage
Brad Pitt is my hero right now. People reports that while Brad and Angelina Jolie donated $2 million already to fight tuberculosis and HIV/AIDs in Ethiopia, the Hollywood heartthrob pledged $100,000 to stop California’s Prop 8, an initiative that is attempting to ban same-sex marriage. This has been the largest donation from a celebrity in the entertainment business, according to Variety. Brad said in a statement to the group Californians Against Eliminating Basic Rights:
“Because no one has the right to deny another their life even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn’t harm another and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8.”
A rep for the dumbass group ProtectMarriage said:
“We certainly respect his right in the political process, but we don’t believe he is the most exemplary figure on the issue of marriage.”
That name “ProtectMarriage” is so lame. I’ll never understand how a gay couple getting married threatens marriage for a hetero couple.
