Brooke Hogan Is Stupid

Brooke Hogan has no clue what’s going on. Last night she posted on her MySpace blog why she is not going to vote in the next presidential election:

Second- Only 54 percent of eligible american voters cast their ballots!!!!!! Half of them are only voting cause its “cool ” to vote for so and so…they aren’t even up to date on information. I’M personally not up to date on the facts, so I don’t wanna make a stupid choice for our country. I WANT to vote but only when I know exactly whats going on. More ppl should think like that. Paris Hilton said “yaaaay go vote cause its cool and hott!!!!” …SHE WASN’T EVEN REGISTERED. seriously.

To say that half of the people that vote do it because it is cool is the stupidest thing I have ever heard!

Also, if you don’t want to vote because you don’t know what is going on and you don’t want to make a stupid choice for your country, then, why not try and listen to the news, listen to what the nominees are saying? But I guess that would be to much to ask from someone like Brooke. Because if she has free time, she’s not going to spend it listening to the boring news, instead, she will be planning her next house party.

Are you fucking serious? Fucking really?

I so rarely comment on peoples blogs, but that just made my fucking blood boil right the fuck over. It’s listening to those scumbags that has got the US into the unbelievable SHIT-TRAP it’s in now. People like her probably have a less distorted view of reality.

Hi Eoin,
I get your point, but what can we do? we’re stuck with these 2 nominees. One of them *will* be the next president of the US. So don’t you think it’s better if people actually make a decision and choose one of the two?

I think she had a valid point, it was just not very well developed. It is the whole concept behind celebrity endorsement…that someone will be influenced by the person endorsing the product or person without really checking it our for themselves. It is how Nike sells their “made in sweat shops” shoes and it is how politicians use Oprah backing them up to become popular.

Hi Sadie,

To me, that is akin to being asked if I would rather be fucked in the ass or the mouth. Or which one of my parents would I rather have sex with. The option to do neither becomes rather appealing in such cases.

I would actually back Brooke in her decision not to vote. From experience with the recent defeat of the Lisbon Treaty [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lisbon_treaty#Ireland](I’m Irish, by the way), I believe it can definitely be better to shut up and let more knowledgable people vote on the matter. What if you had voted for Bush, through a combination of ignorance and a desire to vote for the sake of it, while someone who actually knew what he would/could be like voted against him?

I believe Brooke has a point, but may have worded her position poorly. Her comment: “…Half of them are only voting cause its “cool ” to vote for so and so…”, may well hold water if rephrased as: There exists a significant number of people who, rather than vote through being well informed and being of soundly reasoned opinion, will vote for the side that they believe is winning, or their friends are voting for, purely because they don’t want to be the ones who were either different or got it wrong.

Not that she WOULD phrase it like that, but I don’t think she deserves to be called an idiot for mis-speaking a very good point.
