Brett Favre Traded to New York Jets

Brett Favre left Green Bay for the last time as a Packer for Hattiesburgurg, Mississippi yesterday morning, just hours from a late-night trade that sent him to the New York Jets for his 18th NFL season, according to Star Tribune. The Green Bay Packers returned to practice knowing that his days with them were over as trade talks with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Jets continued.

Favre told ESPN before leaving Green Bay:

“I just want to get on the field and get going — I’m 38 years old.”

The Jets were said to have given the Packers a third or fourth-round draft pick that could go up to a first-round pick depending on how well Favre and the Jets perform this season.

Apparently, the end to the drama over what would happen with Favre is relief for his former teammates. Football players who were interviewed confirmed it was good to see an end in sight. Before the trade, receiver Donald Driver said:

“The situation with Brett and us has to end. I don’t want to hear any more questions about Brett Favre and what’s going on. I’m tired of it. Tired of it.”

It sounds like everyone just wants to get back to the game and is happy the football soap opera is over. What a great score for The Jets.
