Van Halen Show Too Expensive

Van Halen’s gig has reportedly been canceled in Canada after government officials felt they couldn’t afford to put it on. The Charlottetown show was supposed to take place in September, but the provincial government was on the hook for subsidizing the rising costs and felt it didn’t make sense to do so.
Tourism Minister Valerie Docherty explained that initial government investment in the event rapidly climbed from $1.6 million to $4 million. He added:
“It’s not the best use of taxpayers’ money.”
I don’t think the show would have brought in so much revenue to PEI to cover the costs. Some fans are going to be bummed though.
