Scalpers Allowed to Sell Free Bon Jovi Tickets Online

Scalpers are reportedly being allowed to sell free tickets online for a Bon Jovi concert in New York this weekend because the city’s mayor, Michael Bloomberg has refused to enforce strict guidelines prohibiting scalping, according to Contact Music.
Concert promoters for the Central Park gig had threatened to ban the scalped ticket holders from the event after finding out that tickets on some internet sites were selling up to $1,000, however, government officials aren’t able to take any action against the third parties selling the tickets. Mayor Bloomberg said:
“The scalping is just a way of life. I can’t tell you it’s not worth that kind of money. It’s up to you if you want to spend the money. But whatever the scalping laws are, you’re going to have to comply with them.”
EBay’s rep said:
“We can’t effectively enforce third-party contracts. It’s up to the event organizer to enforce whatever limitations are placed on the tickets.”
Meanwhile, Bon Jovi’s rep said the band was “outraged” adding:
“This is designed as a free concert, a gift to the city and the metropolitan area, and we expect everyone will join in that spirit.”
Well, why have tickets for the show then? They should have set it up on a first come, first serve basis. That really sucks for the fans!

I think scalpers are different then ticket brokers. Mainly because the ticket industry is the same as any other business. You buy a product and try to make a profit. You want to complain about it then whatever but even good old Ticketmaster has got in on the action. There is a demand for the products in which we offer or we wouldn’t have a ticket industry. from Ticketsmyway.com
