New Yorker Magazine Obama Cover

The Obama campaign is upset about the latest cover of the New Yorker Magazine. On the cover, Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama are portrayed as flag-burning, fist-bumping terrorists in the Oval Office.
The Obama campaign issued the following statement:
“The New Yorker may think, as one of their staff explained to us, that their cover is a satirical lampoon of the caricature Sen. Obama’s right-wing critics have tried to create. But most readers will see it as tasteless and offensive. And we agree.”
While the McCain spokesman issued the following statement:
“We completely agree with the Obama campaign, it’s tasteless and offensive.”
The explanation of the New Yorker magazine is:
“On the cover of the July 21, 2008, issue of The New Yorker, in ‘The Politics of Fear,’ artist Barry Blitt satirizes the use of scare tactics and misinformation in the presidential election to derail Barack Obama’s campaign.”
While I see their point, I think the image is offensive and should not have been used.

2 babblicious comments:
tastless and offensive…creates ill-will.
I have to say that I don’t find it offensive because, I find it to be pretty much true. Let’s see, what was his first order of business? Guantanamo Bay closing and harsh treatment of terriosts. What can I say? For all of the World to think that he is the Masaya it’s frightening. All we can do is watch and see the distruction of our nation. What will all of these liberals and media say then? I have yet to see the media say one negative thing about this man. This morning on the news, Guantanamo was brought up and dropped just like that. Because he is black we have to treat him with kid gloves or else we may look predjudice? How can one man that was a State Senator two years ago become a god in the worlds eyes? There is something very wrong with this picture. Did someone say Anti-Christ?
