Jean Claude Van Damme Who?

Jean Claude Van Damme thinks his worldwide popularity has made him a “brand name.” Because the action star made 36 movies such as Bloodsport and Timecop, he considers himself an icon. He tells Metro:
“My movies are international. Everybody understands a slap in the face. In Japan, Belgium or America, a punch is a punch. Comedy will be different in Europe or America, so my movies are very international. I’m a brand name. Van Damme is like Levi’s. A day doesn’t go past when I’m not recognized.”
He goes on to explain why he’s SO famous, but pretends to be a little humble at the same time:
“I’ve made 36 movies in 20 years and I overacted a lot in my early career. So it’s very difficult for me to look at myself in those early movies.”
Apparently Van Damme receiving good reviews for his part in a fake autobiographical film JCVD, according to the Guardian though. He’s in the same class as Steven Seagal so I’m not sure if that’s much of a compliment anymore these days.
