Did Coldplay Rip off Another Band for their New Single?
Andrew Hoepfner, the frontman for Brooklyn-based indie band The Creaky Boards, is claiming that Chris Martin and Coldplay ripped off one of his songs and turned it into their new single, “Viva la Vida”.
In the above video, Hoepfner merges the two songs with subtitles “explaining that the band thought Chris Martin was in the audience when they performed the ditty at the CMJ Music Festival in October of 2007.”
The two songs do sound similar, but to me it seems like a very basic tune to begin with.
The oddest part about this story, though, is The Creaky Boards’ song is called “The Songs I Didn’t Write”!
Coldplay’s rep, however, claims the band cut a demo for “Vida La Vida” in March of 2007 and that “Martin was recording in London in October so he couldn’t have been at the CMJ Festival.”
Watch the video and decide for yourself!

ColdPlay: We’ll Steal From Anyone

Cold Play should be ashamed! Their #1 hit is a total ripoff. I hope Creaky Boards sues their ass off.
Hahah now Joe Satriani is claiming he made parts of this song
This is like so absurd. I thought these guys were creative, they are not Vanilla Ice! This song is so all over Joe Satriani that I thought he got both the credit & royalties. This means Chris Martin far is less a musician & more of a scam artist. I don’t like his voice as it is!!! Gloria Estefan did the same thing & eventually paid the price! These guys need to own-up to being less than creative in the artistic department. Sure, they are more popular today than Joe Satriani but that song is totally his in chord progression just that the keys have been changes. They should have admitted to liking Joe’ song, “If I Could Fly!” Well, at least “I Could Fly” is getting airtime again.
