Lewis Hamilton to Pass David Beckham on Rich List

Lewis Hamilton hasn’t won the Formula One World Championship yet, but he’s already taken over David Beckham’s spot as Britain’s highest paid sportsman. On top of his $150 million salary from McLaren Mercedes over the next five years, Hamilton’s set to sign a sponsorship deal with Reebok worth $20 million over a minimum of three years. He’s also said to be in negotiations for a separate sponsorship deal with Pepsi which could be worth the same or more than the Reebok contract.

Sources close to Hamilton’s manager, his father, Anthony Hamilton, believe that he could command earnings of more than $1 billion which would take him to the earning level of Michael Schumacher, the seven-time world champion.

Wow - he’s so young too! Let’s just hope he doesn’t end up with a Victoria Beckham type.
