Carley Simon Doesn’t Understand Why James Taylor Still Snubs Her
Carly Simon doesn’t understand why her ex-husband refuses to speak to her, even after 26 years of their split. Apparently, she walked out on him in 1981 after years in their rocky relationship. She said:
“I probably would have been a little more careful about falling in love. I just fell in love too easily and too much - then, when I fell in love for keeps, it didn’t work.”
She explained:
“I don’t regret that relationship, but I regret the fact that I’m such a romantic and sometimes it’s hard to see the clear light of day. That person was James… because of the intensity of my feelings it was very hard to disengage. We have no contact. It totally perplexes me and that’s all I have to say about it.”
Maybe he’s still bitter that she left him. Some people never get over that, even if she had good reason to do it. It’s still sad though.

I remember the guy from the old Gaslight days in the early ’70’s. He was not a very nice person then, and apparently not a very nice person now. I never could understand why Carly Simon married him, and all these years wondered “how could I have been so wrong about him?”
It’s a very cold comfort to find out I was “not wrong.” Wish it had turned out differently, but the addict mentality is selfish and self-centered whether they are still getting high or not.
