Noel Gallagher Slams Jay-Z
photo courtesy of PR Photos/www.prphotos.comNoel Gallagher of Oasis has reportedly slammed Jay-Z for daring to headline Britian’s Glastonbury Festival, according to Contact Music. Gallagher blames the rapper for slow ticket sales for this year’s event which has just managed to shift just 100,000 for the first day, when it normally sells out in a matter of hours. He says:
“If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. If you start to break it then people aren’t going to go. I’m sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance. Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw the odd curve ball in on a Sunday night you go ‘Kylie Minogue?’ I don’t know about it. But I’m not having hip hop at Glastonbury. It’s wrong.”
I completely agree with him. The two times that Oasis headlined the event (in 1995 and 2004), it sold out so Gallagher knows what people want. People that want to see rappers, usually like going to rap and R&B or hip hop festivals, not a rock concert. It sounds like it’s going to suck this year.
