Katie Couric and CBS to Split Before Her Contract Expires
photo courtesy of PR Photos/www.prphotos.comBoth CBS News executives and people close to Katie Couric say that she is likely to leave the network before her contract is completed in 2011, possibly soon after the presidential inauguration early next year, according to the Wall Street Journal. Apparently CBS executives are under pressure to cut costs and improve ratings for the broadcast after two years of record-low ratings. Katie could be considered to succeed Larry King at CNN though as King’s contract is 74 years old and has a contract into 2009.
Katie would be great for CNN and it’s certainly time for Mr. King to go anyway. I would miss seeing her on the CBS Evening News though.
