American Idol 7 Top 8 Inspirational Week

Although tonight was “Inspirational Week” on American Idol, the performances weren’t very touching. It was actually disappointing. Before I start with the review, I have to mention Paula Abdul’s outfit. WTF was she wearing? Her boobs looked so smooshed and it looked so uncomfortable. Yikes!
Here is the review and the prediction for who’ll be in the bottom 3 and who the next reject is:
- Michael Johns - rocked Aerosmith’s “Dream On” and I thought he did a pretty good version of it.
- Syesha Mercado - chose to sing Fantasia’s “I Believe” and sadly, it paled in comparison. I’m not sure why she chose to sing that song when there are so many others out there to choose from. I like Syesha and think she’s a great singer, but it was a rotten song choice on her part.
- Jason Castro - sang Israel Kamakawiwo Ole’s version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and it was beautiful. While I don’t believe Jason sang it better, Jason did a great job with it.
- Kristy Lee Cook - made ugly facial expressions while singing, but the singing wasn’t any better. She sucks! She’ll probably stick around to torture me thanks to the judges singing her praises tonight though.
- David Cook - seemed like he was slightly out of time with the music but he sang it well. It was so sweet that he had “Give Back” on his hand - I found that really touching. I’m not sure why Simon Cowell had to pick on his white jacket when there was nothing wrong with it.
- Carly Smithson - sounded like she went over the notes a couple of times. I love Queen, but she doesn’t have the right voice to sing them. She chose to sing “The Show Must Go On” and it really wasn’t great. It was funny that Simon complimented her looks though.
- David Archuleta - sang Robbie Williams “Angels” and did a very nice job with it, but in comparison to Robbie, it was obviously not as great. I think David missed a couple of notes, but for the most part, it was really nice.
- Brooke White - sang Carole King’s “You’ve Got a Friend” and sang it okay. This is one of my favorite songs and well, Brooke’s rendition would’ve been okay to listen to if I was listening to her in a bar or at the park, but there wasn’t anything special to it. I have to mention her hair - in the past few weeks, I’ve actually liked her hair, but tonight, it looked strangely flat. Not sure what happened.
Fave tonight: Jason Castro
Prediction for the Bottom 3: 1) Syesha Mercado, 2) Carly Smithson, 3) Brooke White
Who’ll be getting the boot: 1) Syesha Mercado (possibly Carly Smithson after Simon said she might be in trouble, but I am still wishing for Kristy Lee Cook to go)
Guess who’ll be getting the boot on Polls Boutique
