Van Halen Cancels Tour

Van Halen’s tour has reportedly been canceled according to TMZ. They found out that arrangements to cancel hotel stays for the tour which has been scheduled to continue through April 19 were being made. Their sources claim the reason for the tour cancellation is due to Eddie having “issues.”
Apparently, the last three shows had already been axed and Eddie has been said to be out of it during the shows. Below is a video of a show on February 20, 2008 showing Eddie throwing his guitar on the floor, appearing to knock down some amps which almost fall on David Lee Roth.
Yikes! It looks like Eddie needs to go back to rehab!
UPDATE: Sources within Van Halen tell Billboard.com the band’s tour is not being canceled. Monday night’s concert in Dallas has been postponed as well as three other upcoming dates have also been postponed while Eddie undergoes medical tests. The tour is scheduled to resume on March 11. Van Halen’s management has released the following statement:
“Eddie is undergoing a battery of comprehensive medical tests to determine a defined diagnosis and recommended medical procedures.”
Well there you have it, I guess the tour isn’t canceled yet!

Love your post but, this time, I don’t know if Eddie is to blame.
No question Eddie VH is one of the classic rock prima donnas. He envisions himself as inheritor of the revolutionary guitarist mantle handed down from Clapton to Page to him.
But has anyone stopped to listen to the singing? It’s horrible. Roth has always been bad but this is pure SHITE. Can you imagine Jimmy Page or Pete Townsend or any of the other greats putting up with this level of talent from their frontman? It’s bad enough to expect him to play the same stock guitar solo from Jump at the end of all eighty-four stops but to do so behind an out-of-tune, washed up “showmen” may simply be too much. Mix in the requisite three ring circus of rock-n’-roll idiocy (I counted a flag-waiving, a giant phallic microphone and a mic-stand twirl in that five minute clip alone), and it’s something else:
Embarrassing.
Is Eddie quitting? Maybe.
But I suspect it has nothing to do with his ex-wife.
Eddie Isn’t The Problem
I agree the singing is horrific.
