Aretha Franklin Faces Foreclosure?
photo courtesy of PR Photos/www.prphotos.comAretha Franklin is reportedly facing foreclosure as she owes a little more than $19,000 in property taxes for her Detroit, Michigan home. Aretha blames her lawyer for the mistake and claims she will pay up by the deadline to prevent the house from slipping into foreclosure.
She is said to have fallen behind on a $445 payment for taxes and late fees in 2005, with reports suggesting she owes a total of $19,192 in back taxes on the house up until 2007.A spokesperson for Wayne County treasurer’s office confirmed the foreclosure judgment for $445 was entered earlier this month, according to FoxNews.com. Luckily for Aretha foreclosure proceedings will not begin until 2009.
It’s surprising to hear that the Queen of Soul might have money issues concerning a payment that seems like it’s a drop in the bucket with the kind of money she probably has. Well, if she’s telling the truth, I guess she should get a new lawyer.

She should probably definitely consider a new lawyer, if a $445 tax bill is going to end up costing her over $19,000. It’s not too difficult to have these types of things taken care of automatically, but I guess people with a lot of money have to hire other people that cost of lot of money to handle their money for them. Too bad sometimes those people aren’t very good at handling money.
