American Idol 7 Top 12 Elimination Results

American Idol contestants opened elimination night by performing their typical few songs together in a high-school talent show manner.

The bottom three were as follows:
Syesha Mercado - while her performance wasn’t the best, it certainly wasn’t the worst! What an injustice. Perhaps singing first last night made people forget about her when they chose to vote.

Kristy Lee Cook - I put the volume on mute when she performed. I don’t think I can ever take hearing her perform again…for sure not another Beatles song.

David Hernandez - His performance wasn’t as bad as Kristy’s last night, but it came in #2.

Katharine McPhee and David Foster were special guests tonight. Why they asked Katharine to sing “Something” is beyond me - if George Harrison was still alive, that might’ve killed him. I know she’s not in the competition so I shouldn’t rag on her too much, but it wasn’t pleasant.

It would probably be best if they never allowed American Idol to use Beatles songs again. There’s enough variety out there already that they can cover and feel free to butcher, isn’t there?

Anyhow, the Idol reject tonight was…

Boo! Can we get a recount? I can’t believe I have to see Kristy Lee Cook again!!!! WTF? I may not be writing any reviews for her performances from now on…I can’t stand her and can’t believe people actually voted her lame rendition of a great song.

Perhaps the gay stripper scandal did affect David Hernandez after all. I know he didn’t perform well last night, but it certainly wasn’t his week to go. Does this show that America isn’t ready for Gay Idol? It kinda looks like it eh? Not surprising, but how sad!

You have to consider who the David Hernandez fans were voting for this week. Unfortunately, his fans are also likely to be David Archuleta fans. When they saw how bad Archuleta did they voted to save him not realizing that they were putting Hernandez in jeopardy. This is another one of those voting peculiarities that has nothing to do with how the public would rank the finalists.

American idol is about popularity, not performances. David Hernandez is a douche, while Christy Lee Cook is nice.

Performance wise, I agree with you about her butchering the song, but I think David’s song was equally butchering.

The abouve poster said…No. It is meant to be a talent competition. That is the whole reason there IS an American Idol competition.

And another thing, I agree with you about Kristy Lee Cook, and I am not a fan of her either, but certainly not to that level. Honestly, she did a LOT better last night when she performed it again. I wish you wouldn’t judge people just because if they were bad once, they’ll be bad again.

*Almost* everybody gets another chance some time. Maybe next week she will redeem her self.

Yes it is _meant_ to be a talent contest, but at this point they ALL have talent, so it comes down to popularity.
