Jamie Lynn Spears Passed Her GED Exam

Jamie Lynn Spears has one good reason to smile now. She passed her GED, according to her rep who informed Usmagazine.com. She was spotted last month studying for her exam and has said she’s interested in attending Louisiana State University. She said:

“I haven’t thought anything about what I might study. I’ll have to look more into that. But if I went anywhere, I think it would be fun to go to LSU.”

It’s great she’s considering to get further educated despite her pregnancy at such an early age. It’s something that Britney Spears missed out on and could make the difference in the direction of her future. I wonder if her boyfriend Casey Aldridge is planning on going there with her. It sure wouldn’t hurt for both of them to get a college education. Anyhow, I’m actually pleased for her - there’s still hope.

I wouldn’t be so quick to say that there’s hope. If you go to LSU, it’s a tacit admission of your own mental retardation.

Wow, as a professor at LSU, one of the truly great universities in this country, I’m truly amazed at the ignorance of the poster of the first comment. LSU just happens to be ranked at or near the top in many departments. Not only do they have the best football team in the country, they also have the best CIA program and some other very highly rated programs. I don’t need to ask where you obtained your education, or did you even bother to go past high school? Next time before you speak or post a comment, check the facts. Quit living under a rock. LSU has raised its admission standards to such an extent that I’m sure the poster would not be able to obtain admission to LSU.

Right, I’m pretty sure I could be hit over the head with a brick 10 times and still be academically eligible for admittance to LSU. Firstly, the quality of your football team has nothing to do with your educational aptitude. In fact, I would argue that for most major college football programs, the two are inversely related. I make this claim not because I want to unfairly tag football players as “dumb”, but because of the difficulty of maintaining rigorous study habits in light of demanding athletic schedules. It would be unfair for me to assume that your football players are blessed with superior athletic and academic abilities, while most other people are blessed with neither. That assumption would just be irrational…OK, maybe I am purposely not giving your football players enough credit for their collective intelligence. Secondly, your taking offense to a comment that he obviously made as a joke (considering his reference to retardation, which if serious would be an indication of his own unfortunate ignorance, in which case you should give him a break) serves as an indicator of either 1) your baffling lack of a sense of humor in a light-hearted blog environment; or 2)your inability to recognize his jest, thus somewhat reinforcing his otherwise innocuous comment. Or, you may be a fake, in which case you just made me look like a pompous jackass. If that’s the situation, then kudos.
