Britney Spears reportedly took a lighter without paying for it when she went to a gas station in Sherman Oaks. While the gas station owner is not planning to press charges, he is hoping she’ll come back and pay the $1.39 for it. Jatinder Kaur who owns the Chevron station told People:

“Yes, Britney stole a blue lighter here last night. The lighter is $1.39. I’m hoping maybe the next time she comes back she will pay for it. I know she can afford to pay for it, but I’m not planning to file a police report. It’s still not right for her to steal the lighter. I hope she will do the right thing the next time she comes here.”

Britney actually took the time to pay for some chewing gum at the gas station, but on the way out, she grabbed the lighter. And when a photographer pointed out that she “forgot” to pay for it, Britney responded like a smart ass:

“I stole something. Oh, I’m bad!”

The gas station owner should really file charges, even though it’s only a $1.39 item that she took. No one should take things that don’t belong to them and get away with it. Brit-Brit might’ve done it on purpose so she’d have something else written about her, but I wish she’d get busted for doing something so stupid. This wasn’t the first time she took something without paying for it so perhaps she wants to be known as a klepto now.
