Kiefer Sutherland to Serve 48 Days in Jail for DUI

Kiefer Sutherland pleaded guilty to drunk driving and will reportedly begin serving a 48-day jail sentence in December when his show takes a production break. According to the Daily Mail, Sutherland will serve 30 days for driving with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit of .08 percent, as well as 18 days for violating his probation for a 2004 drunken driving case. He is lucky he’s not serving more time. I think his sentence was pretty lenient.

It’s very disappointing that he chose to drive under the influence. It would be another thing if he or anyone wanted to drive under these conditions and could be assured that no one else is on the road, but unfortunately so many innocent people are killed every year because of these stupid decisions. The 24 star may have a drinking problem, but he shouldn’t have done it and should have been reprimanded a little bit harsher in my opinion. No one should get away with an easy sentence for this kind of behavior. I agree with a suggestion from one of our readers who said,

“he should have had his license revoked permanently because he could afford to be chauffeured the rest of his life”.
