Lesbians Not Afraid to be Out in Hollywood
Times have changed for the better. Lesbians in Hollywood don’t seem to be afraid of being out. W magazine says in its latest issue, claiming the lesbians of Hollywood seem to be multiplying:
“Call them the Rubyfruit Mafia.”
In the early 90s, movie producer, Nina Jacobson said she didn’t know of one other lesbian executive in L.A. when she told a colleague at Universal Stuidios:
“I actually am not straight.”
She continued:
“It was certainly an acceptable choice to be closeted then. Now, in Hollywood, it would be a little pathetic. You would only look afraid.”
Jacobson and her partner now have three children. Although the changes have been slow in coming, it’s nice to see some progress.
