Clay Aiken Is Not That Popular After All

The Broadway musical: ‘Idol: The Musical‘ which was based on Clay Aiken’s fan base closed after the first show. The producer of the show sent the following email message:

“Todd Ellis, the producer of ‘IDOL:The Musical‘ has chosen to close the show due to a lack of advance ticket sales, a lack of positive feedback from audience members and critics, and a lack of sustainable financial resources.”

I guess Clay Aiken’s strong fan base is not that strong after all. Or maybe Clay lost some fans after they watched this video.

The play sucked but why not blame Clay for that? So what if he didn’t write it, act in it or have anything to do with it.

Clay sells out every concert and he’s on tour right now but don’t let reality get in the way of your need to bash him.

That show’s lack of success has NOTHING to do with Clay or his popularity. He did not conceive, write, produce, act in, or stage this terrible show. Not every fan could get to NYC to see it and besides..it sucked. Hubby and I saw it last week. It was terrible. Also, Clay is on his annual summer tour and his fans would rather spend their $60 on seeing perform Clay live KNOWING they are going to be greatly entertained, then on an Off-Broadway show that got very so-so reviews. Some were waiting for reviews from fans and when they weren’t good, decided NOT to purchase tickets. Why blame Clay, anyway, for ITM’s demise????? He actually went to see it several weeks ago and even met with the (July) cast after the show - what class. But I can’t imagine what was going through his and his entourages’ minds while watching such dreck!!!! And to think…one of the producers of ITM received an Oscar just this past spring for best Foreign Short-the very very funny West Bank Story.

Oh, another thing. The show didn’t just play only one night. It was in previews for several weeks in NYC and first for several weeks in Syracuse, NY. So, it did NOT close on it’s first night. Aug. 12 was the first ‘official’ opening.

Clay is a doll! He had nothing to do with this show. Too bad it was such a stinker.
