It looks like Prince is in demand in London because his 21 tour dates there has set new records. Tickets at the O2 Arena for his first 7 shows reportedly sold out in minutes which caused the promoters to immediately add 8 additional nights, breaking Pink Floyd’s record of 14-nights at one arena.

The promoter at AEG, Rober Hallett said:

“Prince is one of the greatest live acts of all time so we anticipated a big reaction and we weren’t disappointed. The fact the ticket price is so reasonable and also included a copy of Prince’s new album made this an unmissable opportunity for music fans and is perhaps a message to the entire industry. Live music is what the public want and when they get the opportunity to experience an artist the calibre of Prince they can’t get enough of it. This proves yet again that given the right artists the live music industry is booming.”

Prince had announced his 21 dates in London at a special press conference earlier this month, but the value of the shows were probably the most surprising with the tickets priced at £31.21 and a free copy of his new album to coincide with Prince’s 3123 album. What a deal! I’ve only seen Prince in concert once, but it was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. The folks in London are so lucky! Fans should be appreciative and not overzealous, like the freak who attacked him.
