Artist Protested the Queen’s Fox Hunt By Eating a Corgi

In order to protest a fox hunt that took place earlier this year where a group including Queen Elizabeth’s husband Prince Philip allegedly killed a fox, an artist, Mark McGowan ate a corgi dog which is Queen Elizabeth’s favorite breed.

Yoko Ono, who was a guest on the live London radio show, apparently also tasted the dog meat. McGowan reported to listeners that Ono looked a bit strange after tasting the dog. McGowan said:

“I know some people will find this offensive and tasteless but I am doing this to raise awareness about the RSPCA’s inability to prosecute Prince Philip and his friends shooting a fox earlier this year, letting it struggle for life for five minutes and then beating it to death with a stick.”

The RSPCA (the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) said they didn’t find any evidence that any offence took place in January. In their statement, they said:

“An independent post-mortem examination was carried out and found that the fox died from gunshot wounds - and no evidence of other injury or trauma was found. The only witness who could have supported the version of events reported in some sections of the media refused to give a statement.”

McGowan reported that the corgi, which died at a breeding farm, tasted “really, really disgusting.” Perhaps he did this to get attention, but his act really didn’t do anything to make the situation better. There are other ways to protest!

Wow. I can appreciate where his heart was, but what a reprehensible way of going about it.
