Beyonce’s Being Sued By Des’ree
After Des’ree launched a lawsuit, seeking $150,000 in damages for copyright infringement, Beyonce Knowles has reportedly withdrawn the deluxe edition of her latest album B’Day from sale. According to MTV, Des’ree’s lawsuit was filed on Wednesday, April 18th in NYC claiming clearance had not been given to Knowles for use of the song Kissing You therefore causing the record label management to temporarily stop distribution of the CDs that include Des’ree’s song. The lawsuit’s claim is that Knowles ignored copyright law and recorded her own version of the song due to the strict terms Des’ree’s team issued in which she titled the track “Still in Love” (Kissing You). In my opinion, the fact that Beyonce bothered to use the song at all will probably bring more exposure to Des’ree which will result in Des’ree getting more exposure and money. Lawsuits are terrible…I hope they can settle out of court.
