American Idol Top 6 Review

Chris Richardson did okay tonight performing Eric Clapton’s “Change the World”. It wasn’t the best ever, but it wasn’t awful.
Melinda Doolittle is always such a professional. I actually believe Paula Abdul had it right a few weeks ago when she said that Melinda always tells a story when she sings. Tonight that was evident because she really seems to mean what she’s singing. She’s very inspirational.
Blake Lewis sang John Lennon’s “Imagine”. If I had to choose any of them to sing John Lennon it would have been him so I’m glad he did it. Randy was giving him some criticism saying that he wished he would’ve done more with the song, but I totally disagree. The song is perfect the way it is and if Blake had messed with the song, I would have been very upset. He did a decent job on singing the timeless classic.
Lakisha Jones wasn’t that great tonight even though she has a very powerful voice. She sang a song that Fantasia performed before on AI and well, Fantasia performed it a lot better. I think she has a lot of talent, but she’s not very controlled with her voice and is very unpredictable in her performances…like a loose canon.
Phil Stacey performed Garth Brooks. I almost choked on what I was eating because I started to laugh when the technicians put this white spotlight on Phil’s bald head while he was singing. It completely distracted me. I laughed during the entire performance so I can’t even offer any real comments on his singing. Poor guy! I think he should complain to AI for making him look like he was going to be beamed up to a space craft during his performance.
Jordin Sparks was the final performer of the evening. She did a great job. Randy felt it was the best performance of all 6 seasons and I wouldn’t go that far but it was excellent. I predict she will win.
As far as who will be leaving next, I predict it will be Phil. Don’t forget to vote! Idol is giving back and they are saying that for every call received, money is donated to help those who need it.

As usual, I loved Jordin, Melinda & Blake. I agree that to change Imagine to “make it his own” wouldn’t have done the song justice - it’s perfect the way it is, in it’s simplicity. Blake sang it beautifully.
Loved the review.
Tatally agree. My favorite though
is still Blake he has so much to offer and he did great. I f he messed with the song then the judges would complain about it.
He looked so cute in his outfit and his hair was awesome!
